This seat should be marked as bad. Passengers bump into you in this seat from time to time. The extra leg room and ease of getting in and out of the seat were nice. My issues with the seat are lack of storage, the seats in the row in front are slightly offset so your neighbour's tray overlaps with your crappy foldout one (no support, small and useless). I found it annoying that I had no cup holder for the entire flight, no pocket to put my magazine and personal items. You have to put your screen away for takeoff and landing, while a regular seat occupant will continue to enjoy his or her show/movie. Will not book this seat ever again. 28 A and A had a good amount of leg room plus the wall to put their feet up.
The "new" business cabin is almost perfect except... for the glitches : no IFE (almost OK for a redeye flight) on this flight as they would not fix the malfunction in Dubai. The seat is excellent, very cosy for a night sleep, and with easy commands (often ignored in favour of cockpit-like dozens of switches & arrows). As always of AF, quite un-equal service depending on the crew: this time, loud conversations amongst themselves on a flight taking off (delayed) at 0140am, long chat with a 1st class passenger who seemed to be a gratuity passenger, ignoring the fare-paying one,... Overall unable to make a (full) business class cabin feel any special. No refreshing towels despite 45', no extra drinks before takeoff (we were at the gate, not taxiing), etc.
I paid extra for economy seats with more legroom. Whilst seat 39B and 39C have masses of legroom being next to an exit they are the most uncomfortable imaginable. They have fold away tv screens and tray in the armrests which do not allow armrests to be removed. They are next to the toilets and galley area so lights are on most of the night. The seats have insufficient seat depth and do not support ones thighs and I am not too tall. They are also insufficiently padded, far to hard for a flight from Singapore to Paris. I will not be flying with Air France again, certainly not in these seats.
