Avianca Costa Rica is the Costa Rican operating airline within the Avianca network, based at San José's Juan Santamaría airport. Its history reaches back to LACSA, founded in 1945. Today it operates international passenger services under the shared Avianca brand.

The fare and seat category determine whether selection is included or costs extra; Classic includes Economy seat selection. A seat purchase does not prevent operational changes to the assignment.
The published seat-selection rules require passengers to be older than 15, able to assist during an evacuation, and able to speak, read and understand both English and Spanish. You cannot be pregnant, travel with an infant under two or have requested special assistance.
Every fare includes one personal item up to 45 × 35 × 20 cm, fitting under the seat. An overhead carry-on has a 10 kg limit and maximum size of 55 × 35 × 25 cm, including wheels and handles; its inclusion depends on the fare. The carry-on entitlement applies to adults and children, not infants. Cabin space or operational needs may require an eligible carry-on to travel in the hold without charge; oversize or overweight bags can incur fees.
