Frequently asked questions

Can I choose my J-AIR seat free?

Yes. Use JAL’s domestic booking service when booking or later, up to 20 minutes before departure. Available seats depend on fare and operational requirements. If none are offered, try again 48 hours before departure or ask at the airport. An aircraft change or other operational reason can alter your assignment.

Who can sit in a J-AIR exit row?

You must be at least 15, understand and communicate evacuation instructions, and be willing and able to help without staff or escort assistance. You cannot have responsibility for helping another traveller evacuate, including a child under eight. Ineligible passengers are moved to other seats; baggage cannot stay at your feet or on your lap during takeoff or landing.

What if I cannot select J-AIR seats together with my child or escort?

Contact JAL’s Special Assistance Desk if you cannot select seats together while travelling with small children or an escort. Adjacent seats are not guaranteed, including after an aircraft change.

What cabin-bag size applies to J-AIR’s smaller aircraft?

For its Embraer 170 and 190, follow the under-100-seat allowance: one cabin bag up to 45 × 35 × 20 cm and 100 cm in total dimensions, plus one personal item fitting under the seat. Both together must weigh no more than 10 kg. Airport purchases count within the allowance, and a bag that cannot be stowed may be checked.
