Frequently asked questions

How can I choose an ITA Airways seat?

On ITA-operated flights, choose during booking, through Manage my Booking until 48 hours before departure, or during check-in. Whether selection is included depends on your fare and eligible Miles & More status. If you skip paid selection, ITA assigns a seat free at check-in. Codeshares operated by other airlines are excluded from this service.

What free seat choices are available when travelling with children?

On the same booking, adults with children aged 2–11 can choose Economy Back seats, or Classic and Duo seats in Premium Economy and Business, free. The child age limit is under 16 on Brazil flights. With infants under two, Economy Classic seats are also included. ITA guarantees a seat close to the child for at least one parent or companion; ask customer assistance or airport check-in if online allocation separates you.

Who can sit at an ITA Airways emergency exit?

You must be at least 16, understand Italian or English, have full mobility and strength, and be willing and able to assist with an evacuation. Exclusions include reduced mobility, vision or hearing impairments, travelling with children, cabin pets or seat baggage, evident pregnancy, and restricted movement requiring a belt extension. Medication must not impair the required abilities. An ineligible passenger is moved without a seat-fee refund.

Can a passenger with a disability select seats with a companion?

Yes. Passengers with physical, cognitive or sensory disabilities and one travel companion can preselect seats without charge by calling ITA’s Customer Information Assistance Office, or at the airport subject to availability. The companion’s seat will be adjacent.

How do Economy seat categories differ?

Legroom Seats are offered on A350-900 and A330-900 aircraft, with extra legroom and reserved overhead storage. Extra Space seats are at exits, while Preferred Zone seats are towards the front of Economy. Duo, Classic and Back seats provide other location choices. Available categories and prices depend on the flight and fare.

Can I change a seat during online check-in?

Yes, subject to seat availability and operational approval. A same-category change is free when the fare includes seat reservation. Moving to a higher-priced category requires payment of the difference; choosing an equally or lower-priced seat does not produce a refund. The purchase covers a seat category, and the number can change for operational reasons.
