This my nightmare to fly this plane (I am frequent fl.) . It is impossible to fly in Economy more then 8 h . There is no place for legs - best if the passenger would not have legs and the position of the passenger is the worst possible - just to break your back bone. Premium Economy is however good. My dreams: why do not construct seats like drawers and put all in horizontal. But...! Please no buts - engineers invent how to do it to be horizontal but at the same time being able to sit for meal. If impossible I will quit the meal...
Standard seat but airplane frame starts to get narrower at this point, so leg/feet room under seat in front is limited by 25-30%.
There is no wall behind this seat, hence you have full recline. Seat is anyway awful, every second minute a flight attendant bumps into you. Light is on in the galley an curtain open all night, noise level from galley is disturbing all night, as crew is chatting. Only positive aspect is that seats 45H/K and 46H/K have individual air vents, area is obviously sometimes used as crew rest area, there are attachments for a curtain behind row 44.
Not Verified | Bangalore to Keflavik via Frankfurt. The upgrade from economy to premium economy is misleading. When looking at how to upgrade, no mention is made that upgrade only includes the seat and not additional baggage. I have never seen this on another airline. It is listed in fine print in one of the subsections. We read the instructions on how to upgrade many times and we never saw this. It took 5 Lufthansa staff 20 minutes to find it - yet we were supposed to have seen it? When asked if we could then just go back to economy class, they could not refund our money. Great way for Lufthansa to make short term money and lose long term customers. We ended up having to pay $473 dollars in luggage. You lost us.
✅ Trip Verified | Venice to Dusseldorf via Frankfurt. Ended up on Lufthansa after a cancelled Eurowings flight and it's easy to spot the difference: better legroom and a complimentary drink and snack. Very good info from the cockpit and whisked over the Alps in little over an hour. Changing in Frankfurt is a nuisance since LH uses A and B terminal which are a long walk apart. Short hop to Dusseldorf. No drinks but with 25 mins this flight is just too short. Still my favourite airline.
✅ Trip Verified | Amman to Frankfurt. The plane was filthy, the seats barely fit a teenager, and the treatment by staff is like cattle. Business class is is basically economy with an empty seat in the middle. Plus on top of all of that a five hour flight with no inflight entertainment. Do not waste your money flying with this airline.
I can't believe someone would say that 50A is not good for solo travelers. It's the best seat in premium economy for a solo traveler! You get a window seat that you can easily get in and out of (even with a meal tray on your tray table) without bothering the person in 50C which can't easily be done in any other window seat in premium economy. The bulkhead wall is far enough away that at 183cm I had my legs fully extended so no worries about leg room unless you're significantly taller than that. No one is reclining into you and there's no galleys or bathrooms to the front so no traffic passes by your seat. People have mentioned the fold out IFE screen that can't be used on take off or landing as a negative, but really it's less than 10% of a long haul flight and we all have music, videos, etc on our phones so who cares when you have all these positives?
✅ Trip Verified | I would consider myself a budget traveler and I usually fly with cheaper airlines. This time I spent a little more money for an economy ticket on Lufthansa but I was disappointed. I was flying on a rather new Airplane (B747-8) but Lufthansa seems to be using old seats in this plane. The Infotainment system has tiny screens and is super unresponsive. The touchscreen often registers your tap in a different location. Food: The food quality is ok but below the standard of other airlines. It is obvious that Lufthansa is trying to cut some costs. For example my meal included a salad that only had the leaf in it, no tomato or other vegetables that usually belong in a salad. For my chicken I thought they served me tofu because it was just some white cubes of something dumped into some sauce without even bothering to mix them together. Lastly for breakfast I was served the main dish, a yogurt an a roll. That is alright but I would have wished for some fruit to be served along with it like other airlines do. The service is good but when the staff accidentally bumps into you or spills something they just pretend like nothing happened. I feel that Lufthansa's Economy Class product is overpriced an can not keep up with Asian non premium airlines. The food, cabin and service is not up to standard.
✅ Trip Verified | We flew from Frankfurt to Istanbul with Lufthansa. We wanted to find out how Europe's best airline is. Actually we awaited great services etc. But this was my last flight with Lufthansa. While we were waiting at the gate two policeman came and all the passengers had to go through this second security check to board the plane. Then the cabin crew was awful. After the boarding one of the flight attendants shouted at me because I was taking pictures of the planes outside. They had no motivation and were very chaotic. Additionally we had a 2h delay. It was a hot summer day and they wouldn't give us some water.
What the SeatGuru Seat Map isn't showing is, that the alleyways get narrower towards the rear, reaching in row 58 it's narrowest part. The Lufthansa cabin crew seemed to prefer the right side alleyways to pass lumbering across sections. EACH time they passed I had another hip (or rather ass cheek) ramming into my shoulder. Worst flight of my live.
✅ Trip Verified | Birmingham to Bangkok via Frankfurt. Contract lounge that Lufthansa uses is the worst at Birmingham by a mile. It was too full when we visited with few spare seats and all the hot food options had run out. Flight to Frankfurt reasonable but it really is just economy class with the middle seat missing. There’s nothing business class about this part of the journey. Transfer at Frankfurt pleasantly easy but boarding for the BKK flight quite chaotic. The flight itself was full but fantastic. We were served by the same Bangkok based crew member throughout, she was really friendly and professional, 10/10. Food was great, all choices available. I found the seats really comfortable and managed over 6 hours of good sleep. Can't criticise anything about this flight, just wish Lufthansa would bring their short haul up to a similar level.
✅ Trip Verified | Frankfurt to Bahrain return in Premium Economy. A330 seating is a 2x3x2 layout with plenty of leg room and slightly wider seats than economy. A small amenity kit, and water bottle was provided, and a welcome soft drink in plastic glass. Soon after take off, a bar service was offered, followed by lunch, which was OK, and a snack just before landing. On my return flight, a tasty sandwich was served and later a hot breakfast. The scrambled eggs with Tandoori breast of chicken on top seemed a rather odd combination, and was rather bland. The seat back touch screen IFE monitor was easy to operate and had a limited selection of movies, both old and new. The crew although polite and professional were non-engaging, despite there were only eight passengers in the PE cabin. As for the seat itself, a few inches of recline, foot rest and adjustable head rest made the journey very comfortable for the 6 hour flight to Riyadh for a 45 minute stop and onto Bahrain. I thoroughly enjoyed this flight both ways. Even though the trip is longer via Frankfurt, it was much better (and cheaper) than a non-stop PE flight. And the price was extremely reasonable too.
✅ Trip Verified | London to Frankfurt Business Class. I usually don't pay inflated prices for European Business Class flights, where it's just the economy seat with the empty middle seat. But I was on Premium Economy for the long haul part from Frankfurt to Bahrain, and was offered an upgrade to Business Class for the short haul sectors for a very low fee, which I took. And I was not disappointed. On boarding, I was greeted with a smile. The flight attendants were professional but not necessarily engaging, although they did address me by my name. No hot towel, welcome drink or IFE. But the food was excellent in both directions, considering it's an hours flight. Outbound was a tasty cereal with fruits and on return, a delicious tuna salad with hot bread and premium brand bar service, with refills. I really enjoyed these flights and was impressed with the good service. The seats, though hardly any leg room, surprisingly felt comfortable too. Both flights were on time. But I still would avoid paying Business Class fares on European routes. Checking prices (two days prior to departure), I noticed that the BC flight LHR-Frankfurt-LHR was only little cheaper than the fare from LHR-Bahrain-LHR on Premium Economy! I rated Value For Money as good, only as I was offered a good price for an upgrade.
Lufthansa’s A380 economy class offers lot of comfort and legroom on the upper deck. The cabin is very quiet and meals are good for eco ones. Great !
My wife and I like the seats in the last row because we do not bother anyone when we move our seat backs. The angle of inclination of the backrest is in order. One should know that at Lufthansa, the inner armrests of these seats can only be folded upwards about 45 °, if you want to put a younger child across center square, this works only partially. The light of the toilet shield on the seat backs is quite bright. The traffic to the four toilets in the rear was manageable and did not bother us. At 94C, the Mediabox under seat 93C narrows the footwell a little.
Exceptionnal seat with plenty of legroom. Seats are comfy and recline well. Meal service is very good. Row 12 is surely the best row of the aircraft.
✅ Trip Verified | Vienna to Frankfurt as a connecting flight. If you are flying with a star alliance airline from Vienna airport, during the check in procedure or any concerns still at the airport, you will be served from the Austrian airlines team, which is treating you with not a good customer service. Boarding was really funny as usual when they call first who has priority line, such as business Hon circle and Senator, it´s ending up that also economy class passengers can just queue with them and skip the line, as it was this time. Once in the plane, an A319-100, the welcome was really German and polite from the cabin crew. The seats were nice, actually comfortable with a small but good place also for the legs. As it was just a short, 1h 20 minutes flight of course they passed with some sandwiches and beverages, but they offered you how many beverages you wanted and as I was really hungry I asked the hostess if they had some sandwiches left and after literally two minutes with no hesitation she brought me two sandwiches, with a big smile in the face! I had an overall pleasant short flight.
Limited legroom - about 15cm less width - (for entire row) because of a box beneath the seats of row 17
✅ Trip Verified | Manchester to Seoul via Munich. Return leg, with stop over in Munich for 4 days. Man to Munich was uneventful, standard A321, Snack was OK, seating as per economy with spare seat in middle empty. Service was ok. Munich to ICN on 8 month old A350, flight was on time. Seating the same as 747-400. Amenities kit poor. Food was stone cold, choice of wines limited to two red and two white. My choice of main was not available (or none left ). Flight was 90% full. Kids meal was OK as was amenity pack for kids. Service was okay, WiFi poor.
✅ Trip Verified | Miami to Munich. How Lufthansa is a 5 star airline has always baffled me but this time I really got the confirmation. I will not blame them for the 3 hours we spent on the plane before departing on our outwards trip (MUC-MIA), there was heavy snowfall in Munchen and we had to wait for the runways to be cleared and the plane to be deiced. However, during those 3 hours there was no service at all. I wasn't expecting much, but a glass of water would have been nice though. Now, the A380s cabin is seriously outdated. And even though it's clear that the plane we flew on recently underwent a C-check, being repainted in the new livery, the didn't bother retrofitting the cabin, so you get a 10 year old in-flight entertainment system. The touch screen barely works, it's slow to respond and responds only to every 3rd of 4th command. And on the inbound leg (MIA-MUC) the control keys (volume, channel, reading lights) didn't work at all. The IFE also froze and reset several times. On the outbound flight some passengers had the IFE not working at all and although they announced on the PA systems that they reset it several times, it didn't solve the problem. We also landed with the cabin light on (they should have been turned down) due to the same electrical problem. The seats are quite uncomfortable and the pitch in economy is just bearable and there are large metal containers protruding in the leg area. I have flown on low cost airlines which had the same seat pitch. There were no amenity kits provided, which if I'm not mistaken, should be provided by a 5 star airline, even in economy (I have flown on ones that do). The food is also nothing to brag about, it's half decent but certainly expected more from such a prestigious airline. On our backward trip the crew arrived late (but again, not their fault since there was an accident and a traffic jam), however the boarding process was a total mess. People aligned according to their seat numbers, but then they decided to randomly close lanes and just board people wherever. There wasn't even a boarding announcement, just for first and business class. When they started boarding Economy and Economy Premium they just opened two random lanes. This meant that no one really knew what's going on and the random boarding made the boarding time unnecessarily long for such a large plane (people in the back which should have been first ended up waiting for people in the front to sit down, who should have been boarded last). The crew however is pleasant, smiles and does a good job. The pilots also seemed professional and seemed to have everything under control, despite quite rough turbulence at times. At least this time our bags arrived safe, this is a miracle for Lufthansa since they managed to break 2 trolleys on my previous flights. In conclusion, definitely not a 5 star airline and regret choosing them over the other 5 star airline with which I could have flown (despite the fact that my flight time to MIA would have been an hour longer since they operate from a different hub and would have had other connecting flights).
