Frequently asked questions
How do I select a seat on Avianca Ecuador?
Choose during booking, through Manage your booking or during online check-in; sales offices, travel agents and airport counters also sell seat selection. Whether it is included depends on your fare. If your fare does not include it, you can buy your preferred available seat as an extra service.
Who can use an Avianca Ecuador emergency exit seat?
You must be older than 15, not pregnant and not traveling with an infant under two. You must be able to assist during an evacuation and speak, read and understand both English and Spanish. You must not have requested special assistance.
How do I arrange wheelchair assistance on Avianca Ecuador?
Request it during booking or through Manage your booking under Accessibility and assistance. Avianca’s Contact Center takes requests at least 24 hours before departure, or 48 hours for Europe. It asks wheelchair users to arrive four hours before international flights or three hours before domestic flights. Your wheelchair travels free when needed for your own disability; provide handling instructions and battery details.
What cabin baggage can I bring on Avianca Ecuador?
Every fare includes one under-seat personal item up to 45 × 35 × 20 cm. A larger carry-on is limited to 10 kg and 55 × 35 × 25 cm, including handles and wheels. Domestic Basic fares charge for this larger bag. Light tickets bought from January 27, 2026 for international travel within the Americas include it. Cabin space or operational constraints may require a permitted carry-on to travel in the hold without an extra charge.
What size and weight checked bags does Avianca Ecuador allow?
The standard limit is 23 kg per piece in Economy or 32 kg with a Business fare, with a maximum combined length, width and height of 158 cm. The number of included bags depends on your fare. Accepted excess weight or size costs extra; Europe flights cannot accept a piece over 32 kg even with an overweight payment.
Can my cat or dog travel in Avianca Ecuador’s cabin?
On eligible routes, one cat or dog at least four months old can travel in a soft under-seat carrier, with a combined weight up to 10 kg. Reserve the paid service at least 48 hours ahead; space and required health documents determine acceptance. The carrier limit is 22 × 14 × 10 inches, and the pet must remain inside with room to stand and turn. Live animals cannot be taken to the Galápagos. Ordinary cabin pets are also excluded on Venezuela and UK services; Aruba and Curaçao have restricted exceptions. Partner connections may have different rules.
Can I buy an Avianca Ecuador seat for an infant?
Yes. Buy a child ticket for the infant and use an approved child restraint with its own safety harness. It must be certified for aircraft use and fit the permitted cabin dimensions of 68 × 35 × 43 cm. Aircraft configuration can limit acceptance. Bringing a car seat as an infant item does not by itself reserve a separate passenger seat.
How are service dogs accommodated on Avianca Ecuador?
Accepted service dogs travel free when they can be accommodated safely without blocking aisles or evacuation. Tell Avianca during booking or in Manage your booking, or contact it at least 48 hours ahead, and prepare the required documentation. For tickets purchased from July 31, 2026, the limit is one service, guide or rescue dog unless applicable national rules allow an exception. The dog cannot occupy a seat or an emergency exit row. If it needs more floor space, an extra seat may be purchased.
