Frequently asked questions

Can I choose a seat on an EW flight operated by Eurowings Europe?

Yes. For Eurowings bookings, BASIC charges for advance seat choice, SMART includes a standard seat, and BIZclass includes seating in its designated front section where offered. Extra-legroom seats cost extra in BASIC and SMART and depend on the route and availability. Choose through the booking’s seat options. A reservation can still be changed for operational, safety or security reasons; qualifying involuntary changes are eligible for a seat-fee refund.

Can I reserve an empty seat next to me?

Eurowings sells an empty adjacent middle seat as an add-on in BASIC and SMART; it is included in BIZclass where that fare is available. Add it during booking or afterward. The product called “free middle seat” means the seat remains empty; it does not mean that BASIC or SMART passengers receive the service without paying.

How do I arrange assistance and suitable seating?

For a Eurowings booking, declare assistance needs when booking or at least 48 hours before departure using the assistance form and customer service. Accessible seat reservations are free through the call centre; online seat booking may carry a fee. Eurowings aims to seat a companion beside or near you without a companion seat-allocation charge. Assistance categories have seating restrictions, including exit rows and the first and last rows. Check in at the airport counter, since online check-in is unavailable for passengers requiring assistance, and reach the assistance point at least two hours before departure.

Is seat reservation free when traveling with a child to or from Italy?

On Eurowings flights to or from Italy, BASIC passengers traveling with a child aged 2–12 can arrange free seat reservation through the call centre, or request a refund for a reservation already paid for.

Can my infant use a separate seat and child restraint?

Yes. For an infant under two, arrange the separate seat through the call centre or airport counter and register an aircraft-approved restraint in advance. It must fit and be secured correctly, away from the first row, exits and the rows immediately in front of or behind an exit row. Airport-counter check-in is required for the restraint inspection.

Can a child travel alone on a Eurowings booking?

Children aged 12–17 may travel alone. The paid unaccompanied-minor service for ages 5–11 is offered only on direct connections between Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Palma, Prague and Stockholm; older teenagers can request it too. Book through the call centre or airport counter and complete the care form. The adult accompanying the child to the airport must stay until takeoff. Country-specific consent and travel-document rules still apply.

What cabin baggage is included on an EW flight operated by Eurowings Europe?

Every fare includes a small under-seat bag up to 40 × 30 × 25 cm. SMART adds one cabin bag up to 8 kg and 55 × 40 × 23 cm; BIZclass includes two of those larger bags. BASIC passengers must purchase the larger-bag option unless another entitlement applies. A compliant larger bag may still go in the hold free when cabin space is full. These Eurowings rules apply to EW flight numbers regardless of the operating airline.

Can I bring a pet into the cabin on a Eurowings booking?

Small dogs and cats can travel with approval and a fee on eligible short- and medium-haul flights; category 1 fighting dogs are excluded. Animal and soft carrier together must weigh at most 8 kg; the carrier can measure up to 55 × 40 × 23 cm and must remain closed under the seat, with room for the animal to stand and turn. Pets must be at least 12 weeks old, or 15 weeks for Germany. Ordinary pets are excluded on flights to or from the UK, Ireland, Dubai, Marsa Alam and Keflavík. First-row and exit-row seats are unavailable. Add the pet to the booking and present the required form and travel documents at check-in. Assistance dogs have separate rules.
